I have enjoyed the theological discussion. I know it is easy to believe that all Christians are like James and a few others who pop off their exclusionary beliefs, since most of the liberal Christians aren't nearly as aggressive as the fundamentalists are. But we are here and there are plenty of congregations and denominations who have a big enough tent for those of us who dare to think outside of orthodox dogma.
Most of us have very uneven spiritual journeys. Mine was largely dormant between the ages of 23 and 38, but it has re-emerged for me. I can feel the Holy Spirit calling me from time to time. I am trying to learn to listen to it more often.
I need acceptance and forgiveness so I try to give it and not be judgmental. But we're all judgmental, we have brains and making judgments is what we do. I try to get through each day without making harmful judgments, I guess is the best way to think of it.
BTW, all God talk aside, my son goes to school with Andrew Luck of Houston Stratford HS, and Andrew is the #3 QB on Rivals and is considering Uva. I have spoken with his father, Oliver Luck, who was an all-American at West Virginia in the early 80s. Oliver almost went to UVa but decided not to because the team was so horrid back then. But Oliver has a full appreciation for the quality of and the beauty of the school. I think Andrew will be visiting up there soon before he makes his final decision. I am kind of hoping he goes to Uva myself, but he also has Purdue, Stanford, Northwestern and Rice on his finalist list.
5/3 1:34 PM Will you send me some of the books that you think I should read. Not being funny, I read about history all the time and though we disagree I would prefer to see your side from the text that supports your arguement. Thanks,
