Guy just cant wait to get to UVa

You'll have to forgive four-star Rivals150 guard Kyle Guy if he seems excited. After all, he's an excitable kind of player both on and off the court.
So when the topic of conversation turns to UVa, the future Wahoo can't help but get intense whether you're talking about his official visit there a couple of weekends ago, about bringing in one last member of the 2016 class, or the chance he got to spend with his future teammates.

But the thing that gets him the most excited these days? Getting ever closer to being able to sign with the Cavaliers and then get to Charlottesville next summer and actually play for head coach Tony Bennett.
Guy, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound guard from Indianapolis, wowed this summer on the AAU and camp circuit. It's a big reason why he's now the No. 44 overall player in the class of 2016. As much fun as that may have been, his focus has always been the future.
"This was my first time playing with the guys," Guy said of his official visit, "and that was really cool. I've played with Ty (Jerome) before but Jay (Huff) was there and DeAndre (Hunter) was there so I got to see what we all could do. And it was my first time getting to be around the current guys longer than just a couple of hours. We hung out non-stop for like two and a half days straight just getting to know each other, so that was pretty cool too."
So how would he describe his fellow 2016 commits and their respective games?
"Well, we all bring a little something different to the table, which I think is something that Coach Bennett likes and it's going to be something that sets us apart. For example, I'm not kidding when I say Jay is probably 7-foot and he can shoot it at an extremely high rate. He's tough nosed, too. Ty has a game a lot like London (Perrantes) and the way he plays, little more slow motion but with a good chance of pace, and he can shoot it too. He's real crafty.
"And then DeAndre's athletic, he's actually a little bit bigger strength wise than some people think I think, he's long and he can dunk it easily and he rebounds well but he too can shoot it really well from deep," Guy added. "It's a great group."
Technically, Mamadi Diakite is a 2015 enrollee but the former member of Guy's class is someone the other recruits expect big things from.
"Mamadi was there too but everyone already knows all about him," Guy said with a laugh. "He's a freak on the court but he's an even better guy off the court. And a blabber mouth too. That kid will talk your ear off but he's hilarious. Seems like he's loving it and he tells me all the time, 'Kyle, I can't wait for you to get here. Good work, but hard work.' It's non-stop with him. I love it."
That Hunter went in uncommitted meant that the three commits, and especially Guy, were in closer mode. And as usual, Guy made sure the work got done.
"Coach (Ron) Sanchez told me before the other guys got there, about 20 minutes or so, that he was letting me loose on (DeAndre) because we didn't want to wait around anymore and so I made sure I focused the next however many hours on building that relationship and making sure he saw how special it could be," Guy recalled. "And he did. DeAndre fit right in. He's a great kid. You could tell he was kind of a quiet guy and it was his first time being around us. But we all hit it off immediately and it was a great weekend."
Guy says that he was pretty confident about Hunter joining the fold before he heard the news from Bennett to the group on Saturday night.
"I think we knew," he said with a laugh. "He tweeted out 'Wahoowa' that first night and nobody said anything to him about it at first. Ty showed it to me and I was like, 'Hey D, what's this?' and he was like, 'You'll know soon enough.' So we pretty much knew, so when he did it we all got super excited that he was in."
One other plus from the weekend was getting to be around the current players and Guy said that was a very unique part of this trip.
"We got to get a feel from the guys about what it would be like to basically live there for the next four years and be a part of the program," he said. "We mostly hung out with Anthony (Gill) and Isaiah (Wilkins) the first night. After dinner they asked us what we wanted to do and shockingly enough, we said we wanted to go to the gym. We were there until like 3 a.m., getting shots up and playing 1-on-1, whatever. And then Saturday, we hung out with everyone. I talked to Jarred (Reuter) and Marial (Shayok) a lot the second night."
Guy, who committed to play for Bennett's program a little less than a year ago, is just glad this whole thing is moving forward. He admits that the only thing he regrets about his recruitment is how long it's taking him to wear a Virginia jersey.
"I just really want to get there already, now that I've been committed for so long," he said. "I just want to get through this basketball season, try to win state, try to win Mr. Basketball, and then get out. I'll get there eventually and when I do, it'll be huge. Everything I'm expecting it to be, I'm sure it'll be even more than that once I'm there."
