After four straight losses for the first time since 2001, UVa is in need of a shot in the arm. And the Cavaliers hope to get it tomorrow when the 18th-ranked Hoos travel to Raleigh to face North Carolina State (noon, ESPN).

Things are pretty bleak for the Wolfpack, who sit at 15-14 (4-12 ACC) and already know that head coach Mark Gottfried is officially down to his last few games on the sideline at PNC Arena. NCSU sits 103rd overall according to KenPom, which makes the Pack the second-worst team the Cavaliers will face in league play this season.

And what's staggering about State's demise, though perhaps also not all that surprising, is that it's happening in a year where the roster featured so much talent. Dennis Smith, Jr., easily one of the league's premier point guards, is almost certainly headed for the NBA Draft later this year and despite having him and several other potential pros, Gottfried's team has been a mess all year.

Though they're currently among the nation's top 40 in adjusted offensive efficiency, the Pack are 223rd in defensive efficiency, making them easily the worst team in the conference.

If ever there was a team for UVa's offense to rediscover its mojo against, you'd think it would be the one that has (despite winning at Georgia Tech by two on Tuesday night) given up at least 74 points 10 times in ACC play.

The scene in Raleigh tomorrow for State's final home game of the season could be a wildcard here. The nature of the crowd, giving Gottfried's lame-duck status, will be interesting to watch on what would otherwise be an exciting finale for a number of players be they seniors or not.

As we do before every game, we've got three things we know, a couple of questions, and one prediction as we preview the matchup tomorrow afternoon against the Pack.
