About a month ago, three-star Florida running back Jamari Peacock made public what many had already assumed was coming. His public commitment to UVa following his official visit was the final piece in his process and turned the Sunshine State standout from recruit to recruiter.

Now, about a month before he heads for Charlottesville to start his college career, Peacock is feeling all of the emotions you might think he would.

"Little bit of nervousness and excitement," he told CavsCorner this weekend. "Being from Florida, I've never been that far, or been in the cold, for that long and that's going to be something new. But I'm really excited to get up there and get going."

The Yulee (FL) native is coming off of a monster senior year where he posted 1,876 yards on 251 carries with 34 total TDs.

"I feel like I had a great season but it didn't turn out the way we wanted," he explained. "I surpassed all of the goals I had at the beginning of the season but like I said, we came up a little short. I wanted 1,500 yards and more than 20 TDs while taking my team to the playoffs."

Like many other recruits, Peacock played more than just his future position during his senior year at the high school level. He was lined up RB as well as quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker, and defensive end.

"I think it taught me a lot actually," Peacock said. "Playing more defense, it definitely taught me how linebackers work and how defensive ends read plays and stuff like that. I learned how linebackers come down hill and which gaps they want to shoot and I think that helped me a lot."

His time on Grounds last month wasn't his first but, surrounded by several other commits, the OV to Virginia was the thing that sealed the deal for him in choosing Bronco Mendenhall, Mark Atuaia, and the Cavaliers.
