6-foot, 194 pounds
Rankings:Three-star (5.7), #36 athlete, #48 player in California
Other offers: Farrar chose UVa over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Miami, Michigan State, among others.
How he chose UVa: Farrar became the first Californian to commit to Virginia in more than a decade when he chose the Wahoos in August. Farrar announced his choice on ESPN.com, and called Mike London during UVa's first fall practice to deliver the news.
Although it is rare for the Cavaliers to sign a player from the west coast, Farrar had personal connections to the university and distance did not seem to be a factor at all for the Upland standout. With offers from many Pac-12 schools and other programs out west, he still decided after an unofficial visit to Charlottesville that UVa was the place for him.
That didn't stop other schools from coming after Farrar...or him from visiting multiple times. Whether he was publicly extolling the virtues of the Gusburger or recruiting as much as possible for UVa, his signing today only officially confirms that he's a Wahoo.
Why he matters: UVa is coming off a 2-10 season and needs all the playmakers it can find. Farrar, meanwhile, is a dynamic athlete who has the ability to play on either side of the ball.
More than likely, he'll land in the secondary at cornerback. Farrar participated in the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl, along with fellow signee Steven Moss, and he was slotted at defensive back in that game as well. Farrar's film shows a player with good feet and quickness, as well as above-average ball skills. He should be a natural fit in the secondary for Virginia's aggressive defense.
