There's no doubt that in its past two classes, UVa has addressed a lot of needs. But one thing the Cavaliers haven't done is sign a tight end prospect who could both block and play a sizable role in the passing game.

In targeting prospects like three-star Georgia tight end John FitzPatrick, it's clear that Bronco Mendenhall and his staff are doing their best to get one of those types in 2018.

FitzPatrick, a 6-foot-6, 232-pound TE out of Atlanta (GA) Marist School, has early offers from Iowa State, Maryland, Missouri, Pitt, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and UVa, among others. He also added offers from NC State and Minnesota on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

He was in Charlottesville last week for an overnight stay and he came away impressed with everything he saw.

"I was really excited going into the trip," FitzPatrick told CavsCorner this past weekend. "It was something where I knew a lot about the school and over time, the coaches had been really honest with me, really open, and I knew they wanted me to get up there so we found a date that worked for us and for them.

"We headed up on Wednesday, the coaches met us right away, and it was off from there," he added.
